Questions for Small Group Discussion and/or Personal Reflection
from the 8/21/22 Sermon

Scriptures to Review: Philippians 2:1-18, Matthew 5:16

Questions:

–        In Philippians 2, Paul calls the church to: Unity, Selflessness, Devotion, and Contentment. Personally, which of these do you find most challenging?

–        Read Philippians 2:2. Does this mean we should never disagree?

–        What do you think Paul means by “continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (v.12)? How is this lived out?

–        Have someone read Philippians 2:5-11 out loud. What word or phrase stands out to you? Have someone else read the passage again. What thoughts/emotions do you feel as its read?

–        What are some biblical examples of Jesus modeling and/or teaching: unity, selflessness, devotion, and contentment that were not mentioned in the message?

–        How has Jesus’ incarnation, life, ministry, death, resurrection, etc… specifically motivated you to be more unified, selfless, devoted, or content?
