Small Group/Personal Reflection Questions
1/19/25, Practicing the Way Series: “This is the Way”

What might be some implications to the early Christians being called “The Way” (Acts 9:2, 19:23, 24:14)? How is that different from being called “the Church” or “Christians”?

Read Matthew 7:13-14

  • What does it mean to understand this passage as “Salvation as Transaction”?
  • What does it mean to understand this passage as “Salvation as Transformation”?

John Mark Comer writes: “For Jesus, salvation is less about getting you into heaven and more about getting heaven into you…It’s less of a transaction and more of a transformation. It’s not just about what he has done for us but also about what he has done, is doing, and will do in us if we apprentice under him.”

  • What do you think “salvation is less about getting you into heaven and more about getting heaven into you” means?
  • Do you agree that, to Jesus, Salvation is “less of a transaction and more of a transformation”?

What is a skill you have practiced extensively in order to grow/improve in?

  • How is growing/improving in our walk with Jesus different or similar?
