Questions for Small Group Discussion and/or Personal Reflection

–        Think back on the first three weeks of our “Reset” series (Week 1- The world often pushes us toward burnout. Jesus invites us to lay down our burdens and find His rest…. Week 2- Sabbath is: A Command not Suggestion, A Blessing not a burden, An Attitude of the heart, not just a day…. Week 3: God modeled sabbath rest in creation and in Jesus’ incarnation.) What scriptures, points, challenges, or encouragements have stood out to you the most?

–        Read Romans 12:2 out loud. What initial thoughts come to mind when you read this verse? What questions come to mind?

–        It was said in the sermon: We can easily become slaves to “more”. What does that mean? Have you felt this at all in your life?

–        What are your thoughts/reactions to the two lies of culture: Lie #1: Your value is determined solely by the amount and quality of what you produce…. Lie #2: Other people are your competition over who is more valuable.

–        What are your thoughts/reactions to God’s counters to those lies: “You are valuable because you are mine”, “Other people are your neighbors who I have placed in your life to love and serve.”

–        It was said in the sermon: “Sabbath Rest is a bridge that helps us get from conforming to the pattern of the world to living by God’s standards and expectations.” What does this mean? How does sabbath help us not conform to the patterns/expectations of culture?
