Spiritual Gifts: Encouragement
PASTOR PJ PASIEKA

Small Group/Personal Reflection Questions

Read Matthew 16:13-18 out loud

  • What is something about this passage that stands out to you?
  • How did Jesus encourage Peter?

The original Greek for “encouragement” in Romans 12:8 means “to come alongside.”

  • Who in your life has come alongside you as a meaningful source of encouragement?
  • Why is it important to understand encouragement as more than kind compliments?

What might be some reasons that people withhold encouragement?

It was shared in the sermon that from our culture we are bombarded with the message “You’re not good enough”. Max Lucado calls this a “tidal wave of inadequacy”.

  • How does this contrast with the message and hope of the Gospel?

As the “Spiritual Gifts” series concludes, what is something you learned, or a meaningful insight you received? Have you spent time thinking/praying about what your Spiritual Gift/Gifts might be? If so, are you currently serving in a way that is aligned with your gifting?
