Questions for Small Group Discussion and/or Personal Reflection
Scriptures to Review: Mark 11:12-25
– Read Mark 11:12-25 out loud. What is a word, phrase that stood out, or question you’d like to ask after reading this passage?
– If Jesus were to visit churches today what, if any, are some practices/behaviors/attitudes that Jesus would confront?
– Read Jeremiah 7:8-11. Is there a parallel between how people viewed the temple then and how people view the Church today?
– Read Mark 11:24 out loud. Does this make God like a genie? What about when we pray for things and don’t receive what we prayed for? Does that mean that we just didn’t pray with enough faith?
– In John 15 Jesus gives his disciples the command “remain in me”. Have each group member write down what they feel Jesus means by that. Then have everyone share their responses.
– How has remaining in Christ specifically shaped your understanding and approach to: Worship, Prayer, and Relationships?
– A key point in the message was “We are made to be more than leaves” meaning we were made to be fruitful. How do you define Christ-centered fruitfulness?
